Can we grieve before the right-wing starts inveighing with the 2nd Amendment?
A terrible tragedy happened in Blacksburg, VA yesterday at VA Tech. As a Virginian, an American and human being it is important to mourn, share in the grief and leave it at that. Can we have at least one full day before we lay blame or or defend gun ownership? The families of the VA Tech community do not want to hear it. Already, we've heard from McCain, who said "I still support the Second Amendment." Yes, McCain, we know you'll say anything to get elected. I'm not sure why you feel like throwing that in face of a grieving community. Of course, the White House let us know where it stands. From Bush spokeswoman: "As far as policy, the President believes that there is a right for people to bear arms, but that all laws must be followed." I am sure the NRA will hold their next rally in Blacksburg, VA. I don't dispute the Constitutional right to bear arms as guaranteed by the Second Amendment, but I have a real problem with right-wing jamming it in the faces of a mourning community in the midst of their tragedy. Can we hold the debate until after the grieving period?
